Is there some central holdings or repository these days of all the airmen who were shot down over Europe and made Prisoners of War of the Germans? Do the records even exist?
I was thinking they may be useful in research, and will of course also have photos of each airman too. Is there any place that holds all the records or were they destroyed after the war? Or dispersed to various archives? Any ideas?

Thanks Mike and Ross.
Mike, that books sounds very interesting, I’ll see if the library can get it. If not, I might have a to fire a few questions in your direction (don’t worry, most Cambridge airmen who were shot down in Bomber Command died, there were only a few POW’s, so not too many questions).
Ross, an interesting list and great resource, though none of the three men I looked up who are associated with my research are on the list. One was not a prisoner of Gerry, he was actually interned in Spain for four months. There is no doubt a really interesting story behind this one, but sadly the chap died in 1997.

Hi Dave,
I have put a transcript of the AIR20 List of RAF/Commonwealth/Dominion PoWs onto the RAF Commands site some time ago.
Not quite what you are looking for but this and the K Files are part of the National Archive holdings.
