Powerful Take-off

Obviously runway length etc causes variations in take off power used, but in general which aircraft ussually gives the best, most powerful take off experience?

I think the 757 is good for take off while the A321 with CFM engines I traveled on recently gave a sluggish take off compared.

I havn’t traveled on huge range of aircraft types, mainly just A320 family aircraft so I was wondering which airliner is the most powerful on take off(and the least).

Regards

Luke

mine is the boeing 777 as it is powerful enough and it is comfortable to fly in.

i almost got a flight in a concorde though during the work experiance i did

GET BACK SOON

I think that the classic 747 is best, pity that the concorde still, isn’t in service, I wonder what it’s take-off was like?

Most impressive for me – a VC10 out of Manston with me as the only passenger and a crew keen to get back to Brize Norton!

The 146 was noisier than some of the props that came in before it to City, and the people living around it make (Or made) a big fuss when it came about I believe. Like a mini JFK + Concorde.
BTW I was just outlining the reasons why a 737 couldn’t get in for anybody wondering. My eyesite is bad but not that bad! 😉

Before this thread gets a bit out of hand, you have to bear in mind that almost all commercial take offs are made using a reduced thrust to varying degrees. As a result you really can’t make comparisons unless you experienced all aircraft at max take off weight and full take off thrust (ne derate). Otherwise there really is no answer.

Bull****, then why do they call it the whisperjet! Don’t be blind, I already said that it was not certified to fly in there ;).
The ARJ makes less noise, so it’s probably more loved. I always wondered how a F50 approaches it, because it makes a standard approach nose-down 😮 . Maybe a 10° nose down that will be.
There are two buildings next to the approach to 28 pr 10, don’t know, are these buildings accessible?

London City. It wouldn’t be allowed to land there as it is not certified for the steep approach and it makes FAR too much noise. They don’t even like the 146 operating in there it makes “so much” noise.

Did you know the official min take off length of a classic 737 is just 1400 meters! It can actually land at LCY but this would not be allowed of course.

I’ve always found the 757-200 to have a brilliant powerful take off and a very nice angle as well 🙂 The 732 is also spectacular with the olds engines it’s very powerful and has a spring in it’s step 🙂

Yeah It maybe already rotated at 120 knots. when at full takeoff, It ‘ll probably use much more.

When I flew the 757-200 the week before last, I was pleasantly surprised at the takeoff.

We accelerated very quickly down the runway and were off of the ground within 15 or so seconds (maybe less). this is probably down to the fact that the aircraft was carrying just 30 passengers and few bags in the hold.

I love trijets, flew once on a DC-10-15. Not too noisy. My favourite cockpit is the MD11 cockpit.

One of my most impressive (powerful) take-off’s was on a Delta MD-11 from Gatwick-Atlanta. It didn’t stop as soon as it had enetered the runway, just blasted it’s way off, then 5 seconds or so after we had left the ground, we were already in a tight left hand turn.

Antwerp has a 1480 meter runway. I often see a VLM F50 taking of from there to LCY (probably just 1/5th of fuel), and it only uses half of the runway (It’s min requirement is a bit less then 1000 meters). Yep, Nothing beats the vibration of the f50.

I travel regularly on BA and Saudia 777s but they have never over impressed me at take off. The most impressive take off I experienced was in Concorde (G-BOAC) at RAF Fairford in 1994 at the Air Tattoo. The tickets for me and my son cost the old arm and a leg but what an experience, straight out onto the runway after an SU22 finished its display and then blasted off without stopping. When the afterburners turned off, I had the sinking sensation you get in a powerful lift. The other most impressive take off was a BA744 from Gatwick to Buenos Aires.
I would love to experience a take off in a Foxbat or Mig 29 but as usual money is the prob.

The 777 has a kick!

The RJ85 takes off fast, but its designed for that so i dont whether it is all that powerful.

The 777 has very powerful engines, but that doesn’t reallymean It can take off faster than an A330.

Yes i find the take off of the F50 very powerful.

You cant compare take of speeds of an aircraft. Depends n the weight of the a/c also…..if its heavy it will be slow and take up more runway and vice versa.
