Been having a bit of a debate with a guy regarding PPL instruction on Permit to Fly aircraft in the UK. Maybe some of you can clear up the matter.
According to his version of the thing, it is possible (either already, or shortly to be) to take the entire PPL flying sillabus on a permit to fly aircraft. My understanding of how things work, is that you have to get the PPL rating on a Normal Catagory aircraft, at a flight school (registered or FTO) and then you can be CHECKED OUT on your own permit aircraft.
Which one has got the facts right?

Im sure LASORS will tell you but as to the whereabouts within it you will find the reference I have no idea, I assume you know you can view LASORS online from the CAA website?
Try posting on the “other” forums (am I allowed to say the name here?) as this would be in their knowledge base.
Dean.

Galdri – it’s been years since I had any serious involvement in training but I have an inkling that there might be something in what you say if you are the owner of the aircraft receiving instruction in it. Perhaps I’m talking nonsense?
