Evening,
I’m off to Prague for a few days at the end of June and was wondering whether anyone here had been and could offer any advice, as well as an idea of the cost of a beer and a meal over there?
Many Thanks

Lonely Planet talk a load of rubbish, I read their comments about Scarborough and Yorkshire in their UK book and it was plain that they’d never been near the place because everything they said was wrong. I would never ever rely on the info they give.

We went there last summer on a stag do. Whatever you want…you’ll find it in Prague. Truly a paradise for gentlemen.

I’m flying there with Czech airlines from Stansted. Thanks for all the advice so far.

I’ve just talked to my mum, who went there last year. She spent 4 days there and came back with change from £200.
It’s a beautiful town. Very historical with some superb architecture. There are some nice bars and restaurants that were very reasonably priced. The hotel they stayed at was nice too. She mentioned that there wasn’t much to buy for the tourist but what was there, again, was pretty cheap.
They also flew by EasyJet which was pretty good too. This may seem like a silly question, but how are you getting there?

Prague – Enjoy!
Hi Y11F
Was there Sept last year for an overnight business trip which left us with a free day to explore the city (tough job, but someones gotta do it… etc etc). Beer is generally cheap though we never found the mythical “70p a pint”, as is food, and is very good quality 😀 – but watch out for the usual over inflated “tourist prices” in popular places like Wenceslas Square – our host ended up forking out £15 for three beers there!
The city itself is very beautiful, even to an architectural philistine like myself – amazing unspoilt buildings on every corner! Views down from the monastry/castle area over the river and city are very impressive on a clear day, and there’s a good terrace restaurant up there mid-way between the observatory/funicular railway and the castle. Food there wasn’t cheap, but it was excellent, and the view was outstanding, well worth the money.
The Prague Technical Museum up on the hillside above the river is well worth a visit if you get an hour to spare – they have some very rare locally built aircraft on show plus others mainly pre WW2, and gallery design allows you good photo opportunities – trawl/search back through the forum’s Historic board for the photo thread I posted.
Prague – locals are very friendly, beer very is cheap, and the local girls are very pretty. What more could a man want ENJOY 😀
