PRC vs Vietnam again

Since Thobbe likes these kinds of scenario..why not.

China, during every dynasty, has attempted to re-incorporate Vietnam.
For those unfamiliar with Asian history, Vietnam was China’s medieval “Taiwan”.
like Taiwan, it was led by a renegade Chinese general who attempted to reconquer southern portions of china
like Taiwan, its a country made up of native non-Chinese people and lots of Chinese-settlers who slowly are building a separate identity

now that China is stronger again, could they finally reconquer the whole of Vietnam?
or would they be bloodied again like in 79?
