Would anyone happen to have any photographs of No. 35 Squadron aircraft at the Prestwick Air Display in June 1975, the Binbrook Air Show in July 1975, the RAF St Mawgan Air Show or the Yeovilton Air Show in September 1975, which could be utilised on a non-commercial, educational website aimed at preserving the history of the squadron.
In addition, if anyone has any other photographs or documents relating to the squadron’s aircraft / personnel etc that they would be happy for me to include on the site, please could you get in touch.
Regards
Pete

Thanks for the responses and for the additional detail on the aircraft utilised; Rabbit Leader I have sent you a PM.
I am just working through the squadron’s Operations Record Book for that period so I will see if it provides any further details on the aircraft utilised.
I have recently been advised that the stylised ’35’ was known as “skyhook”
Regards (and thanks again)

After a deep dig into the ‘little grey cells’, had to give up and dive into JJ Halley’s ‘Squadrons of the Royal Air Force’ to discover that in 1975 No.35 Sqdn were operating Avro Vulcan B.2s, operating from Scampton. The unit marking being a stylised ’35’ with the numbers combined together. So it is Vulcan pictures at those shows that need to searched for.
Prestwick 14/06/75 Vulcan B.2 XM571, no unit noted
Binbrook 19/07/75 Vulcan XL446 of 35 Sqdn
St Mawgan 06/08/75 XL445 noted as 35 Sqdn
Yeovilton 06/09/75 Vulcan B.2 XJ783 of 35 Sqdn
However the shows I took photos of Vulcans at that year eg Valley and Finningley show 617, 44 or 101 Sqdn a/c. Still the details above should help those around air displays in 1975 with a camera cut down on the number of images they search through.

1975 Prestwick airshow was the first I ever attended. I was 16 at the time and, sadly, it pre-dates when I commenced photography. I do, however, still have the programme which I’d be happy to let you copy, if that’s of any interest. Guy
