From the ‘Pilot’ website.
‘Controlled airspace is to be re-established in the Prestwick area following a steep increase in the number of flights at Prestwick International Airport.
The new Class D Control Zone (CTR) and Control Area (CTA) will be introduced on 30 October. Its approval by the Civil Aviation Authority follows a review of local airspace arrangements and consultation with the aviation community.
Prestwick Air Traffic Control will continue to provide radar and non-radar services within the local area, both inside and outside the new zones, to all airspace users.
In addition, the base of the Scottish Terminal Control Area (TMA) in the Kilmarnock area has been revised.
Controlled airspace previously existed around Prestwick, but a decline in air traffic activity at the airport led to its withdrawal in the mid-1990s. ‘
Interesting, passenger flights or more cargo?

It is slightly but Germania has just announced it wants to decrease it’s frequency from PIK.

maybe ryanair is increasing frequencies?

If you increased PIK traffic by 100% overnight I still wouldn’t call it “busy” in modern UK airport terms. There has been a slight increase in lo-co ops and a reasonable amount of increased cargo ops.

I’ve bumped this back up as it got swamped in the forum crash over the weekend.
Is Prestwick really getting that busy again?
