You need a wide lens as they come over your head on finals at around 100ft or less, scares the pants off ya too !!! 😮 :diablo:
Hi Alan
What size wideangle lens is required at the point you talk of?
Nice photos E-GPK I especially like the one of the Cargolux 747 taking off with another behind coming into land

Did you take any of those from the farm road under the eastern approach ? Popularly known as “The 747 Experience” ? 😀

Cool shots!
Wonder if any A380’s will fit into PIK?
I think there’s taxiway issues to be dealt with, but not a problem otherwise ?

Is Prestwick a major freight centre or something????
In a word yes, it’s popular with freight companies because of the long runway, good climate, relatively free of commercial traffic, easily accessed by road hauliers and near to major motorway and sea port links.

Is Prestwick a major freight centre or something????
Prestwick has more schduled 747F’s than any airport in Scotland, in fact more than most airports in the UK. Cargolux, Polar, Atlas, Air-France, Global Supply Systems, Evergreen International are all in a few times a week and thats before you count the Russians with their Antonov’s 🙂

Good stuff Iain.
Was down today also, visiting the polar hangar….the storeman was less than impressed with the line-up of stuff outside (and in!!) awaiting work. hehe. I was delivering an antenna for the 742 in the hangar.
