Pretty amazing man cave and a Harrier and Jaguar as well!

This is quite a stunning collection. The aircraft are in really nice shape!

I can confirm that XZ364 is not a complete airframe.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82/pagen/St%20Athan%20Buildings/XZ364.jpg

Hasn’t been for a while!

Jagx, I very much doubt (or hope!) that it has been scrapped, must have been quietly disposed of.
It recieved many paint jobs in line with being a practice piece for the Painters and Finishers students.
I think the pics were taken in Jan ’07.

:eek::eek::eek:

Thanks for posting – when were these taken?

Not seen the picture of it in Camo before as a Jawk Mk1. I cannot believe its been scrapped, I hope its sat in someones garage and they are keeping quiet about it…..

And yes I’d like to know what happened to XX722 as well!

These were the last few times that I saw XX722, including when she appeared as the ‘Jawk Mk.1’!
Strange how it has seemingly dispeared into thin air as it was a fantastic contender for a cockpit collection.

I can confirm that XZ364 is not a complete airframe.

Here is the lowdown…..

XZ364 (whole aircraft) was owned by Everetts, and located at Sproughton.

“A customer” requested the nose section of a Gulf War veteran, and XZ364 had it’s nose section removed, and painted up in it’s GW1 marks, then delivered to the customer.

The rest of the fuselage was stripped of useful parts, then scrapped, the wings remain on site.

So, XZ364 nose section is the one in Tony O’Neill’s “garage” in the Royal Tunbridge Wells area

Regarding Spadeadham and Jags, a conversation with Cosford last week again suggested two Jags went here early this year – however still have no confirmation, so maybe they are confused with Pembrey.

And yes I’d like to know what happened to XX722 as well!

I would be very interested if anybody has photos of XX977, she spent a fair bit of time as an instructional airframe at St Athan.

Thanks Paul

I found this one:-

I dont think it’s XZ364 as this is still a complete airframe… More like a cockpit has been painted up to represent this aircraft. Anyone on here to confirm this?

I think one of his Arrows is on display at PTR Racing in Horley/Gatwick. I had a look around it a few weeks ago, and its definitely a runner. The staff said it was on loan from a “local collector” who’s into planes and bikes too. Think I may have met the guy. some time last year a guy approached me whilst working on the Lightning and professed to have a mint runnable Jag in his garage/workshop near Haywards Heath. I took it with a pinch of salt, but perhaps he wasnt a b****ter after all 🙂

From what you have said I would say you almost certainly met Tony.
I haven’t seen him for a long time. I met him through a friend who still keeps in touch occassionally.
More here with a fleeting glimpse of Tony at th very end. http://repairbooks.co.uk/ducati/News/the-amazing-race-ducati-collection-of-tony-oneill/

a couple to be physically identified as being up in the ranges on Spadeadham.

According this http://www.aviation-links.co.uk/MAMupdate44-2009.pdf
they are XX962 & XX966 but this can not be correct as these are at Pembrey as seen here http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=287&p=28057 so maybe there are no Jaguars at Spadeadam

If this is Tony O’Neill who lives in England (the Arrows GP car makes me think it is as he had a lot of Arrows bits about 20 years ago) then this is the latest of his collections.
He is a friend of a friend who I knew for a short time in the late 80’s. His previous collections included Arrows GP cars (he drove a demonstration in an Arrows A11 turbo car at Lydden around 1989/90 with help from Arrows) and later he had a collection of Porsche 956/962 Group C sportscars and a Porsche 935 or two – not bad for someone whose early career was as a development engineer at Greeves motorcycles.

I think one of his Arrows is on display at PTR Racing in Horley/Gatwick. I had a look around it a few weeks ago, and its definitely a runner. Although I don’t know the exact location of the collection I think “in the Tunbridge Wells area ” is probably a little off beam unless Tony has moved again.

XZ364

Phil, we have had reports from both Sproughton and Bentwaters since 2008 and have confirmed it is no longer at either location. Hence my money is on the cockpit section with this collection as being this one.
The website has a very good handle on the whereabouts of all the disposed Jaguars and other than a couple to be physically identified as being up in the ranges on Spadeadham this is the only one not currently tied down to a location.

I know this Jag was stripped of spares at St Athan before heading to Sproughton (Everett) in Suffolk as a whole airframe. As far as I’m aware she is still there unless someone on here knows more. My records only go back to 2008 for her….

Phantom Phil,
Are you saying that you have knowledge of XZ364 being complete since 2008?

Nice to finally see some pictures from this collection, listed as being in the ‘Tunbridge Wells area’ as this was all we had up till now.
The SHAR is ZH799
The Jag T4 is XX841
The Jaguar cockpit section (which we’ve never been able to confirm) looks like its XZ364 as the nose art appears to be ‘Sadman’ which was carried on this airframe during GW1. Additionally the frame has not been seen since 2008 at Everrets.

Definately a big boys toybox !:D
