Yes I know its an aeroplane !
Scanned this in from a magazine I have called ‘airBP number twenty two’ (its a ‘Journal of The International Aviation Service of the British Petroleum Company ltd’ and is one of several I have. There are no dates to confirm the publication date but judging by the smell and ‘feel’ of the magazines, I would hazard a guess at early sixties.
Question is, what’s the plane ?. Initial thoughts are that its a Connie but the tailplane looks too near the ground for that. I was going to post this on the airline forum but thought that bearing in mind all the latest about the Connie coming to the UK, I’d get a better chance of finding out here.
The photo caption reads as follows :’
Webbair hostesses have a beige uniform with a light blue insignia and during flights they work alongside the hostesses provided by the charter company.
Over to you.
Cheers

Totally agree with Ambassador. The tailplane attaches at the base of the centre fin and the rudder balance is at the base of the fin. The York had the rudder balance in the same place, but the tailplane attached to the fuselage. I’d even go as far as saying that this is G-AMAA. Originally a BEA aircraft it went to Shell Aviation in January 1960. (Shell & BP were associated companies) You can see what appears to be the bottom of the last “A” on the fin stripe.

I agree with Roger,it definately looks like an Airspeed Ambassador, and it looks like it belongs to BEA judging by the colour scheme.
Nice picture…;)
