problem fsx

Can anyone help ? Recently purchased my first flight sim; fs x. My problem is that I experience a frustrating, prolonged noise similar to radio static; whilst attempting the”Flying Lessons “. This noise does not allow me to hear the verbal insructions, given by ” Rod the Pilot “; therefore, I believe it is a fault rather than a touch of realism. Any advice would be appreciated if I could eliminate the noise. Eric.
