Thread on pprune is reporting the Sea Vixen has touched down safely at Yeovilton but required the crash crew in attendance resulting in extingushing substances being chucked into the engines….. 🙁
Any news……hopefully not as despressing as it may appear…

Glad that it was a safe landing regardless of aircraft type or age.

Just goes to show you can’t rely on a mil pilots forum to be too hot on a/c recognition
How the hell a Sea Hawk and Sea Vixen can be mixed up I have no idea, still the main thing is the pilot and the jet are both ok.

Guys,
Nothing to do with the Sea Vixen. It was RNHF’s Sea Hawk which got airborne for its first post-winter maintenance check test flight but then proceeded to disgrace herself by having a hydraulic failure, necessitating a perfectly-executed emergency landing with emergency services in attendance, as per the norm.
Glad to report, however, that both aircraft and pilot are fine. One of those things, especially when you’re dealing with a 50 year old jet.

P.S. Thanks Lee for posting the correct info.

Mark,
Maybe not but its worth pointing out just in case.

I don’t think Firebirds post falls in to that category – he clearly stated that the aircraft “touched down safely at Yeovilton”.

I just hope he managed to phone home before someone posted his mishap on the internet.
Anyone remember the engine problems for the HAC Hurricane at White Waltham a couple of years ago.
I believe the son of the pilot read about a “serious problem” with his fathers aircraft here first in passing. Thus causing lots of unnecessary worry. In the end it turned out to be minor but can we please remember that the internet is a powerful thing and show a bit of caution with posting news if incidents.
You mean just like you did with your guess the height of the Typhoon contest you posted on here last year.

Thirded. And I really hope she puts in some airshow appearances this year.

I’ll second that. Would hate anything to happen to her now she is flying again after all her years of sitting around
