Problems at LHR Heathrow?

Is something the matter at Heathrow, as some flights have been diverted – a BA 747 flew over my house earlier this evening which was a pleasant surprise!

From the LHR arrivals board:

16:05 IB4150 VALENCIA DIVERTED Terminal Two

18:15 EY303 ABU DHABI DIVERTED Terminal Three

18:40 EK003 DUBAI DIVERTED Terminal Three

19:20 AF2270 PARIS CDG CANCELLED Terminal Two

19:25 AY5909 HELSINKI DIVERTED Terminal One

19:35 BA911 FRANKFURT CANCELLED Terminal One

21:10 BA913 FRANKFURT CANCELLED Terminal One

Not to mention some outbound cancellations of course.

Some funny visitors at LGW:

19:00 VS301 DELHI VIA LONDON HEATHROW LANDED 1911 South Terminal

18:45 FR2613 SANTANDER LANDED 1855 South Terminal

19:00 ETD303 ABU DHABI LANDED 1913 North Terminal

Anyone know what’s going on?

No problem Tom, a pleasure.

If you would like to learn more about TAF & METAR bulletins you can register with the Metoffice, it is free, this will give you access to aviation forecasts

Go here to register clicky

Then obvioulsy hit the “New Users Regsiter” button in green

Once registered go here for information on how to decode a TAF

clicky

And go here for information on how to decode a METAR

It was interesting yesterday whilst watching the Aircrash Investigation program about the Little Rock crash, the NTSB set about monitoring flight activity when thunderstorms were present, and I think it was 80% of planes opted to fly through them whilst evidently every pilot knows the inherant dangers of doing so, glad to see that is not happening here in the UK

Correct – it’s down to severe thunderstorms in the vicinity of LHR.

B767 G-BNWA diverted to MAN operating BA873 Domodedovo-Heathrow.

Thunderstorms at LHR and STN causing chaos for all involved. Phil, I’ve compiled a list of those who have diverted to Gatwick (that I know of):

BA887 BUCHAREST A319
BA122 MAURITIUS B744
BA767 OSLO A319
BA755 BASEL A319
BD466 NAPLES A319
VS301 DELHI A343
FR2613 SANTANDER B738
EK3 DUBAI B773
ETD303 ABU DHABI A345

EDIT – A shame we didn’t decide to go to LGW today, Phil πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€
