Since the arrival back on these shores of Proctor Mk111 G-AKEX (RAF LZ 791 ) from Sweden I have been intrigued to find out if I worked on her whilst working on Repair & maintainance at Herts & Essex Aviation at Broxbourne Herts. of Proctors 1 11 111 1Vs & Miles Magisters etc.
I managed to obtain the RAF form 78 which stated that she crashed on the 21/11/1944 & was repaired on site. The most likely choice for that being Broxbourne.
From a copy of AM 1180 I finally found out that she was the Proctor which I saw crash there 63 yrs ago, & may well have worked on at that time.
I am now eagerly waiting for the opportunity to be reunited with her after what seems to be a ‘lifetime’ ago.
She arrived back in this country almost to the day of the 64th anniversary of that 1944 incident.
Incredibly it is a very good friend of mine who has fullfilled the massive task of bringing her home from Sweden, & is adament on restoring her to flying condition.
He deserves all the support he can get, — may he achieve this wonderful task. I only wish that I was young enough to assist him with this.

Maybe you might get the owner of the Proctor to get in contact with me. I am currently restoring a proctor in Australia and am likely to be of help with information, drawings and other knowledge.
cheers

I have just looked inside the cover of the book and YES, it is Harry A Smith!

The name Harry Smith certainly rings a bell — could he be the chap I worked with on Proctors all those years ago — could it be Harry A Smith ? — surely no book is worth that money — IF he sold many of them he must now be a millionaire !!!!

Forget my last post as the book we are talking about is by Harry Smith. That must be a gold plated book B.B. as it costs £213 from Amazon or $458 in the U.S.!:) Can you believe these prices?

If this is the book, by Paul Roxin, it looks as though it would be cheaper to buy it in the US rather than the UK!

With regard to the book ‘One foot On The Ground’ I really do wish that I had written it, but sadly I did not Chaps.
I have often thought of writing a few chapters, but as yet have never got round to it. — thinking of titles, perhaps I would have to borrow the title :- ‘One Foot In The Grave’
In fact I have’nt yet come across the title mentioned, so perhaps one of you kind chaps would tell me the gist of it please.
Happy New Year to you all.
