These pictures show Mk 3 G-AKEX loaded in Sweden on the 5th November, and almost ready to roll for home. The wings, stabiliser , elevator and rudder were all shrink wrapped, and carefully positioned below the airframe. between sheets of four inch foam. The complete fuselage was also shrink wrapped, and covered with tarpaulins, all taped and lashed down securely. Cowels etc are piled inside, and the doors re fitted and locked to keep everything safe inside. Due to the width of the center section, at 11 ft, the hubs were unbolted, and the u/c forks set on to a hefty wooden beam, then bolted into place. Engine and prop are secure in the pick up, well covered and oiled. The wheels and tyres remain attached via the brake cables and will be fitted in England, in the hope they may be persuaded to take air again, which will facilitate moving the airframe into store. An escort van has accompanied the load to Gothenberg and she sails for Immingham arriving in the early hours of Saturday the 8th. More interesting history is being revealed, with large areas of metallic blue on the fin, not RAF fin markings, as they can be seen below this paint. I have now seen the form 78 detailing her RAF history, and it appears she was based mainly at Thame and Shrewsbury on communications duties. In Nov 43 she suffered a Cat B accident, and was in the repair shop for over four months. Tellingly the initials FA appear alongside the Cat B entry, i am told this likely was an abbreviation for Fatal!, can anyone out there confirm this a likely explanation. More pictures to follow as soon as she is home to Suffolk, and a real inspection can be started on this rare survivor. đ

KEX
Is anything known about Wallis Hole Aviation & Harold Hext ? & where they were based?
Dustyone
Even if it was registered as G-AKEX in 1947 it didn’t recive any CofA until 17.02.50 – the owner was then Henry Hext, London, according to my information. Last registered UK owner was Wallis Hole Aviation Ltd.

Took some finding!

It’s good news I was wrong about the state of the woodwork (according to the initial assessment). My remarks about L s & d and ‘passion’ or commitment ‘values’ stand, based on costings of wooden aircraft rebuilds.
It’s great it’s got a future, and congrats to ‘Tango Charlie’.

It appears that she had numerous colour schemes prior to her last UK appearance, which we think was Cream & dark Red, under that there is what appears to be a ‘metalic’ Blue scheme — does anyone have any pics of her in any of these schemes Please? Dustyone
The A.J.Jackson collection lists one negative, which is probably b/w and may be the one mentioned by Papa Lima.

Hi Papa Lima,
I was wrong about the year this pic was taken – must be 1950 (I will correct that). But the Proctor wasn’t reg in Sweden until Oct 1951. The story of 1950-51:
17.02.50 UK CofA issued for G-AKEX.
20.12.50 Bought by Swede Lars-Ove Göransson via Wallis Hole Aviation Ltd. for the sum of £217.
10.01.51 G-AKEX crashed on arrival at Eslöv during the ferry to the new owner.
08.02.51 G-AKEX cancelled. A/c repaired.
10.10.51 Reg as SE-BTR to Lars-Ove Göransson, Malmö.

Looking inside the port wing revealed a bemused Swedish mouse
If he/she was blonde, he/she won’t have any problems.
So are you going to have two Proctors on rebuild at the same time?

Safely Back
Pleased to report that KEX is back safely on home soil, after her 57 year absence.
we unloaded her early hours last Saturday, and she is tucked away in her
storage building until spring 08, when things will start to happen.
Looking inside the port wing revealed a bemused Swedish mouse, who scarpered off further inside the wing, i trust he will escape and make friends with the locals! Good news is that the condition of the woodwork is better then initially thought, and professional opinion has been expressed and that as much as 85% could possibly be retained in the re build! Will post more pictures soon

Congratulations on your progress so far. For the readers, this is/was SE-BTR and used to be G-AKEX.

‘Merry Christmas darling- I hope you like it. It took ages to wrap’
Great project, that should keep you busy for a while. You might know we have some other contributers on here who are engaged in Proctorish endeavours.
