Projekt 1157. URSS answer to USN Arleigh Burke

http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=71621

Anyone can confirm if Projekt 1157 was a true URSS fighting ship design?
Or it is just a fake….

AFAIK, project 1157 is an AGI type.

RSM55,

She’s almost 100% CGI. The design appears to have been based on the ANCHAR project (alternate to the Kirov). Nothing to do with actual projects. I know it’s a circular and unhelpful thing to say, but believe what you believe.

I thought the Anchar corresponds to Projekt 661 (Papa SSGN class), was this designation reused for a Kirov contender design?. Can you post any drawing of this Anchar Cruiser?

Thanks in advance
Antonio

PS: to whoever drawed this: next time you do something similar, please have a glance at the international maritime flag code. Had a good laugh when I noticed that thanks to modern CG tech, soviet naval ensigns were flown at the bow… (where the jack would be – in port). Sometimes it’s such petty details that give a hoax away…

Jeez. Check out the thread “Was this a real possibility or just a CGI fantasy”. Exact same thing. Someone ought to merge these.

No luck with google. The sketch had a bridge radar tower like the Burke Class without the raked mast with a soild superstructure aft with off setting funnels like the Spruance Class with a radar mast between the stacks. Single gun in front VLS aft of the gun, helio landing spot behind the superstructure VLS behind the helio, VDS housing behind the VLS. Pretty basic sketch.

Please, can you post a scan of this sketch? I’d love to see it!

I’m sorry I don’t have a scanner (I’m way behind the times) The name of it was Project Grom. Perhaps a google search might help.

In the 1998-1999 edition of Combat Fleets of the World under Russia there was a entry for a future surface combatant with a very crude sketch.

There is a little bit of truth in it. In the 1998-1999 edition of Combat Fleets of the World under Russia there was a entry for a future surface combatant with a very crude sketch. The data for it is similiar to what the CGI site has listed for its design. (Perhaps the CGI artist had a copy of the book) The whole program was just another “pie in the sky” project that the Russians just couldn’t afford. The design looks good.

IMHO it’s fake: never came across any information on it.
