Hi guys,
This photo has intrugued me for some while now. I found it on a local site which I don’t seem able to get back into.
The photo was taken on Pangkor Island, just off the West Coast of Malaysia, although I am unsure when.
Can anyone out there identify it?
BR,
Laurie.

Only the middle prop has the covering.
Thanks

1st pick of the 1939 prop I thought would of been a WATTS 2 blader or a metal 3 blader and not a jablo covered one?
Experts along soon

Yes, that would be quite ironic wouldn’t it?

I know the Zekes had licensed-built Hamilton Standards…
Although I know exactly what you mean this made me chuckle. Can you imagine the Japanese actually paying Hamilton Standard for the licence fees by 1944?

It is the gearing behind the hub that has been confusing me. I don’t recall seeing that before.
The blades also appear a little thick for Corsair/Hellcat. Unfortunately, my reference books do not give details of prop construction on Japanese aircraft.
I must admit, my first thought was possibly from a Japanese aircraft.

Are you sure? Those gears look strange to me behind the hub…
Did the Japanese have metal props? I know the Zekes had licensed-built Hamilton Standards…

It appears to be US Build if I was guessing I would say either off a Corsair or a Hellcat.
