Propellerblade identification please

Hi all,

Last week I picked up a propeller blade which looks to me to be from a Spitfire. The guy I got it from had it for forty years in his living room as a
showpiece and he obtained it from someone who used to buy up all sorts of things.

It is a Rotol compressed wood/resin blade, the yellow tip has the number:

R5481

At the root of the blade there are the numbers:

RA.10046/RTS

below this is a red circle with the numbers:

RTS
R
R5481

below this is the note:

set 0″7 fine

At the metal fitting there are the numbers:

SA887/1 and RA9918 as well as some RT-numbers
which I think are Rotol manufacturers stamps.

The blade has a brass leading edge and at the back of
the blade about halfway there is a very fine line chordwise.
As I said the shape looks to be from a fourblade Spitfire propeller
can anyone of you (Mark, Anna etc.) confirm this to me?

It’s available if you happen to have a spare Halifax throttle box lying
around gathering dust 😀

Cheers

Thanks Fuji,

That confirms my opinion. Any clue to what year it could have been
manufactured or from what model prop it originates?

I think the prop wasn’t used but came from the RNethAF Spitfire spares holding and was disposed off through official channels where others were able to obtain it. We are speaking about the end of the fifties here.
Cheers
