Careful, those who think metal “goes off” with age will be able to hear the rivets stretching!!!!
A great performance and illustrating perfectly what a large aircraft can do with its energy.

That picture, fantastic as it is, is surely shown upside-down. The person standing/sitting in the aeroplane (and therefore the camera they were holding) was upside-down – the land should be at the top and the sky at the bottom ! 😀

Here’s the view out the port side of the Dash 80 with Tex at the controls. After over 3 decades of retirement it was last flown in 2003 to IAD and now can be seen there at the Udvar-Hazy Center.

This brings to mind the Boeing test pilot (whose name escapes me at this time) who rolled the 367-80 (707 prototype) on its maiden flight
Tex Johnson. Not on the maiden flight, but during trials.

I am also reminded of the displays of the F27-400M by Major Boy Soons of the Dutch Air Force, of whom it was said that he never took off in a display, he merely retracted the undercarriage, cut one enginer and flew the rest of his display on one engine.
