My apologies for reviving an ancient thread chaps and chapesses.
I have been trying to find out what happened to Stephen Piercey’s photo archive as mentioned in his obituary in Air International, would anybody know where it ended up please?
Regards Tom

Viscount Stephen Piercey at Brooklands
I believe the Viscount at the Brooklands museum is named after him.

Back from the dead, albeit for a one off.

If the complete run of PROPLINER could be offered for sale on CD-ROM (as Air Britain has done with their publication), I will certainly buy iy.
However that would totally destroy any commercial value that their stocks of back issues have, so would be a non-starter.

Think Sunday Sport versus The Spectator 😉

There is a suggestion elsewhere that our Forum sponsor FLYPAST, should buy Propliner, surely not a confllict of interest?!
And a conflict of quality: Propliner’s production was eons ahead of FP. Both have their place in the market, but while FP is cheap and cheerful, Propliner was always something to be read and savoured like a fine wine.

Shame, great magazine, loved the stories of the tours and internal flying around North Korea, Eastern Russian republics and other far reaching obscure places where propliner gems are still waiting to be found alive and well!

It is indeed a great shame, I subscribed from the very begining and have enjoyed reading every single one.
I would like to add my thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in the magazine. Stephen Piercey started something very special and those who carried it forward after his untimely death did him proud.S.B.
I repeat every word with conviction. A subscriber from Issue 1. From a shaky black and white beginning to the current glossy colour production, it has been an enjoyable and permanent record of prop life and will be sorely missed. Thanks team and contributors.

What a shame, a cliche to say it, but really the end of an era.
Nobody produces a journal like this for a profit, and 30 years (or so ) is a damned fine run.
The number of active piston aircraft is dwindling of course, so I suppose every endeavour has a natural ending.
Thanks to all the team, and a good time to remember Stephen Piercey.
” By this time he had launched as a spare-time hobby Propliner, a quarterly journal devoted to the world’s surviving propeller airliners and their past glories. He edited it in his bedroom among his Argonaut souvenirs and a collection of slides which, by the time of his death, had risen to 25,000. We hope that this collection, a unique record of piston-transport’s twilight, will find a good home. And perhaps one of Steve’s countless friends throughout the world might name a propliner after him.
