Absolutely classic shots – thanks for posting and just keep them coming.
The variety of airliners around in those days is so different to the present day where most of them are the same shape! Heathrow, or LAP as it was called, is so boring these days by comparison!

Trade descriptions.
Seeing that shot of the Britannia, I was reminded of a holiday brochure from the 1970’s.
The enterprising company had a picture of one of its Britannias on the front cover. The props were air-brushed out and four not too convincing inlet orifices had been ‘dobbed’ on.
They were extolling the virtues of their ‘all jet’ fleet. 🙂

The BOAC DC-3 is particularly interesting, as I haven’t seen a photo in these markings before. I think the British United Britannia is taken at Prestwick, as those ‘white posts’ were quite famous for getting in the way of photos during the ’60s.

Having looked at them more closely, yes, many were indeed taken at “LAP” (it wasn’t called Heathrow in those days), from the great cinder car park alongside the northern peritrack. The Panam Strat was especially nice to see, since one of these was the first airliner I ever got inside in 19.. God knows when. I still vividly rmemeber the spiral staircase to the lower deck where the sleeping berths were.
The shot of Ambassador G-AMAG was taken at Blackbushe; another wonderful place to visit with a camera – you didn’t need telephoto lenses in those days. Come to think of it, that’s just as well since I couldn’t have afforded one anyway!
