I agree, but some airworthy Spitfires have been “resored” from less!
Sure, there is a ready made industry able to process any identity these days, and a Mosquito would be starting from scratch, but the Spitfire does set a precedence!

Much as admire the sentiment of the project, having seen the reaction from some of “the group” on other sites, I certainly wouldnt part with cash should they ever even come up with a realistic proposal. IMHO asking for donation now was a step too far. Then again, when you have comments along the line of “after all this time you’ve secured an airframe” on the FB group, it kind of sums it up the target audience…

I think that comprises a couple of rusty undercarriage support structures.

It was dug up at Colt just after the base closed.

Somewhere mentioned a spar too. Can’t imagine with fire damage it would have fared well after 55+ yrs underground!

I think if they are serious they should try talking to a certain man with a farm in Canada NO not that farm but the other one who has some chunks of mosquito and three Merlins lying around as well as some Lysander and other bits.

But perhaps they have and the man has told them what he tells a lot of people to go and do with themselves.:diablo::diablo::diablo:

I’ve joined the group on Facebook (not the group proper) to keep an eye on what could be a very interesting project, and member Ian Porter revealed that the remains of NF.36 RL249 have been secured, with another airframe in the pipeline.

Congratulations to them, and I look forward to seeing what comes next for them.
