Prototype Mosquito.

Spent an interesting few hours at London Colney looking at the prototype Mosquito.
I was wondering why did the prototype Mosquito have leading edge slats but the service aircraft did not?
More importantly why did the Germans embrace the technology more than the British, and Americans for that matter.
They would seem to be a useful concept but not widely adopted.
