They moved hangar to a larger one, the Ex JCB’S one ( which i may add is neither accessible, being totally airside, nor is it overlooked from none airside ) the old one was demolished to widen the RVL taxiway when the new hangar was put up, there is indeed a Stearman based there, G-BNIW, but that is in a different hangar and nothing to do with RR, as is the Jet Provost that is also based there in another hangar and again nothing to do with RR.

They did have had a visiting Chippie staying over with RR but that should have left by now, they have the MK 14 in storage and the MK 19 when sorted, but that is it. Never seen any Miles types at all anywhere at EMA.

I thought the last Spitfire based over in that part of the world was MT719 🙂

If you mean east midlands airport,rolls-royce have had a small hangar there for many years housing first there mk14 and since its purchase the former bbmf pr19.There is or was a boeing stearman based there as well but dont know of any other spits. If you go back some years a company rebuilt several Spitfires there under the name of Trent Aero.

No, and no. Have you ever looked at how a Spitfire undercarriage system operates?

See on other forums that its confirmed what I had heard; pilot inadvertent gear up select as it vacated the runway. Was this Merlin 1 or another jockey?

Don’t Spit’s have a cut-out that operates when the undercarriage is under compression? It would seem an obvious safeguard even if it was added as a mod.
