Does anyone have any information on the reported move of PS890 Contra Spit XIX from Planes of Fame to a French owner?
I venture to ask, will it be at Legends 2005? 😀 Imagine a big Spit tailchase with PS890 doing its thing. Poetry.

Merlin70,
It is my understanding that the current owners will get it flying.
That is why they acquired it. 🙂
The previous owner is still governed contractually by a confidentiality agreement.

Look forward to seeing her take to the air. Whether soon or not, it will be well worth the wait.
In the meantime we have the prospect of a contra-prop of the european circuit. That really is something I did not expect to see anytime soon.

Do you know what plans if any the current owner of EN224 has regarding a restoration? It would be great to see a Mk 12, even better if the long term intention is for flight.

Perhaps sort of ‘his and hers’.
The perfect marriage. 🙂

Thanks for posting Mark. Amazing what some people will put in their garage. When it comes to Griffon power, I’d sooner have a Spit Mk 12 in my garage. 😉

Here is one fresh off the wing of a Shackleton.
No home is surely complete without one. 🙂
This one was acquired by a friend of my wife for a project he was working on back in 1989.
I think we might just be all in for a real treat this year in Europe.

It’s an age/education thing!!!!!!
Are you implying that Thatcher’s children do not come with an abundance of the 3 R’s?

How much cream do you reckon you could whip in one go with that thing on the front? Can you get a dough hook as well?

Aeroplane have also put something else on their website which wont go down to well like the p-38 but a Lanc any guesses?
This is almost Weaver-esque in grammatical content and syntax! My brain hurts!

There are a few shots of PS890 around the web but nothing that really gives a feel for the contra prop.
The previously posted video footage of the Seafire 47 taken at Crystal Lakes during Mark 12’s visit certainly whets the appetite though.
Lets hope the rumours are true and that PS890 is heading to Europe.

Ah. How can it be called a XIX then?
With all the griping that goes on regarding authenticity and yet no complaints regarding a ‘butchered Spit’. Sounds like its either one that slipped through or the Forum’s going soft.

I don’t think there were any!

Haven’t seen this month’s Aeroplane yet. This the one?
That’s the one Daz. Although airframe and Griffon make for a Mk XIX, I am not sure what the Contra prop makes it apart from extremely interesting.
The Mk21’s looked quite something with contra props . One of them sported the silver and red racing colours as per TD248 ans RN201. I can’t think of any XIX’s with this mod.

im not saying they have bought the P-38 as the circumstances stated in another thread confused me as one forumite said that he doubt it had been sold. good luck to them though.

i was likening it to Lefty Gardner’s P-38 being sold to red bull and the other story of the TFCs atempted by of the P-38L.
Well rumour has it :p that the deal for Lefty’s P-38 is not quite a done deal yet, although it would seem very likely.
And the TFC P-38 wasn’t an attempt to buy, as it was a trade/part-ex deal with the Mossie, probably with the sole intention of selling on ASAP anyway.
(Edited: as MikeJ beat me to it…..again 😀 That’s the trouble with people at work interupting you mid-way through typing a post….damn inconsiderate :diablo: )
