As for why it was there I don’t know, but according to the BBMF website there’s also a Spitfire flypast due at Chicksands at 18:45 BST tonight so keep your eye out Ollie.

I herd that display but i couldnt see it.

Thanks guys. I did think I would’ve liked the Spit to have taken up just slightly more of the frame, but now the more I look at it, the more I like it.

From an artistic composition point of view, its great – very atmospheric. It seems everyone these days is capable of taking a photograph which shows every tiny detail of an aircraft but never enough sky…

It was rather far away. I didn’t have clue which part of the airfield it was going to display over, and anyway I could only find one place to park where there was an unobscured view.
