Can anyone identify the pilot in Spitfire 462 taken at Middle Wallop in 1990s? Even better, does anyone know how to contact him if possible?

Thanks for the amazingly fast response to my post! Would anyone happen to know the contact details of Reg Hallam’s next of Kin? I need to obtain a model release for the picture.

Some time ago now. He had heart problems and lost his medical after a heart valve burst while he was airborne in the Buchon. He got it down safely. I remember seeing him at Brimpton and he told some great tales of flying for Memphis Belle (he said attacking B17s was a lot of fun) and then he went flying in the Provost. Obviously he could not fly as he had no medical but Alan made a very good job of flying the Provost with his hands on the coaming and Reg had a big smile after.
He was a nice guy. Must have been about 8 or 9 years ago?
When he died? I thought it was only a few years ago.
Had a look on the Internet Movie Database (where he is listed under Memphis Belle and Piece of Cake), which brought this bit of trivia up:
Reg Hallam went to the Royal Air Force College Cranwell where he won the Sword of Honour as the best cadet of his year (1957-1960). He had been in contention for the 1956 British team at the Olympics as a pole vaulter but did not compete due to back problems.

Don’t know if it was on this forum but i remember seeing a picture recently that someone had posted of Reg Hallam in Spitfire EE606 at DX in 89.

I’m going to appear terribly ignorant here, for which I apologise, but I didn’t realise that Reg Hallam was no longer with us. When he did he pass away?

I was pretty sure it was 1 July also. Dad’s 65th birthday, we heard the news on the radio on the way home

I have been reliably informed by a former Colleague that it is indeed Reg Hallam.

Mr Church died on the evening of 1st July 1989.
I suspect that is Alan Shepherd in the cockpit of 462, I recall it was him that took the Spit to Middle Wallop in around 92 or 93.
I was at the sad event on my late Race Horse “The Tempest” Its the date I have in my diary 😉 which I keep up to date 😉 Anna

Knock once for yes, twice for no, etc.
Charles Church was lost on about July 4th 1989- the sad news was announced at the PFA rally at Cranfield. If things had worked out difference, he might have had his own B of B Memorial Flight- Lanc, Spit Hurri.

I am not 100% sure here but it does look to be the late Group Captain Reg Hallam, who was one of the principal pilots for the Charles Church operation.
Here he is in the CC Mk V EE606.

Looks like the late Reg Hallam
The ‘late’ might give a clue to how difficult it will be to contact him.

If it was definitely the 1990s then it isn’t Charles Church himself, which is just as well since contacting him could be problematical.
