Q: Flight International archive available on DVD?

Over the years I have sent e-mail to the contact address for the Flight International archive but have never had a response. So question to the forum instead.

Anyone know if it is available offline on DVD or similar?

I could suck it all down using wget but that might be a bit abusive of their Internet connection…

One thing, if I recall correctly, IPC kept the aeroplane archive during the split, so RBI the owners of FI, only have the FI archive.

Pacific Wings have started to digitize their magazine also: http://www.pacificwingsmagazine.com/issuelist1970-1989

They started in the 1930’s apparently so it should be interesting to keep an eye on

Thanks chaps – I’ll give the office a call on one of those old telephonic devices.

I’d love to have a local copy of the archive that I can index for better searching. Such a great resource.

…..and oh, if only ‘The Aeroplane’ were available online or in some digital format, for the benefit of poor souls such as I who live a long way from those few libraries in the UK who hold a full set. If the Lakes GC can do it for ‘S&G’, maybe someday someone will make ‘The Aeroplane’ once again avalable to a wider audience.

Flight was available as a series of CDs covering 1909 to 1919 from someone who frequented The Aerodrome.

I used to work for them until 2006 and was involved in the early stages of getting some photos digitised. The archive used to be at the end of the office in Quadrant House, Sutton. It used to be a guy called David something (not Learmount).

Try calling the office and see where you get:
