Qantas A380 declares PAN at Heathrow

The Qantas Airbus A380 service… QF-31 from Singapore to London Heathrow… on July 4 operated by VH-OQA… carried out a go-around and entered the hold before declaring a PAN prior to their safe landing on runway 27L.

The QF A380 was subsequently towed clear of the runway… which was closed for approximately 30 minutes after the emergency…anybody have any further details???

If they had to use the alternate gear extension then they’d lose the nose wheel steering hence why they were towed instead of a taxy. Quite why it took 30 minutes is anyone’s guess.

Interesting, but since they didn’t declare a mayday, it’s unlike that anything was seriously wrong. I too would be keen to find out more, however.

Looks like it was some sort of nose gear problem!!!
