Qantas and Singapore to combine A380 facilities

Qantas and Singapore Airlines are in talks to combine A380 training and maintenance facilities
The potential savings of hundreds of millions of dollars on hangers, flight simulators and training centres were so compelling that Qantas and Singapore believe a full-blown alliance or even a merger could eventually be an option

With both airlines operating relatively small fleets of the 380 I see no reason not too. As long as everything is used properly and equally divided and employed there should only be good results in the end. The consolidation of new facilities will as you said only lead to more efficient opps. I could see and alliance like AF & KLM but probably not a merger. Any cooperation in that arena of the world will work because Qantas has a fair presence as SIN and SQ has many flights to all australian cities.
