Qantas planes fly in Iran!

How to circumvent sanctions. 😉

[SIZE=”3″”The second-hand aircraft market is probably dodgier than the second-hand car market,” an executive from a large aircraft leasing company says.

”If someone said they were a used-car salesman, you’d kind of automatically set a fairly low set of expectations in terms of honesty and disclosure. What is different between used cars and used planes – it is just different vehicles and a much bigger sticker price.”

Nothig new to this. What to think about the three ex UA 744’s flying with Mahan Air. They were imported through the UK and Armenia into Iran….

Iran Air has an ex Martinair 747F in their fleet imported through Turkey.

And try to look up Asian Express Airline, they have one A320 (Allready in Iran) and some BAe-146’s in the same colours painted an Qeshm Airlines so no hard guess where those will end up….. Ex BA btw 😉

That is one of the aircraft under discussion and believed to be the first to appear in Iran.

On 23/4/12, the US Department of Commerce isssued a denial of export privileges for 180 days in respect of the three aircraft. At that time, C5-SAM was under a short term lease to Aban Air from 15/3/12 to 30/4/12. Whether this ‘lease’ would have turned into a bill of sale if the desist order had not been issued could be a matter of debate.

And don’t forget EP-APA of Iran Aseman Airlines.

Not Iran Air though, which was the original statement/question 😉

It is ONE of the aircraft but probably not in Iran, yet. The aircraft went to Burkina Faso as XT-SAG and was in storage last year.

The article seems more about bashing Qantas, than that US-built aircraft are flying in Iran.

Oops! I knew one of their airlines was flying the A340. I once flew on an Iran Aseman F100. Really nice cabin crew, both the cabin and the plane itself was spotless.

A fascinating article. I believe that Iran Air is now flying an A340.
