Qatari royal family delay BA flight.

Members of the Qatari royal family delayed a BA flight from Rome to London for several hours, when females from the entourage refused to sit next to unknown male passengers. The entire party were eventually removed from the aircraft and caught an Alitalia flight instead…

I’m not the biggest fan of the UK, but I think that’s a tad harsh!

“we have open plan seating available on the wings or in the baggage area your highness, no one else would be sitting with you”

What’s fascinating about this story is how the headline spin has changed as the days have gone by. It was initially ‘Sheik delays plane and then asked to leave’. Two days later it became, “Three Arab Princesses kicked off plane.”

It just shows how the media get their teeth into things.

If this was another other “normal” pax they would be off the aircraft in seconds

Not only off the aircraft the pilot would most likely have you arrested for approaching the cockpit which isnt allowed .

Surely there was an element of religious & cultural sensitivity here that the BBC report fails to mention ?

There is always a case of such however one person’s right to religion is only valid uptil a point where it doesnt infringe upon someone else’s rights . The person knows his religion and should have contacted BA and they would have easily assigned him proper seating had he told them of the situation in advance . Comming to the gate and expecting yourself to be treated higher up then anyone else is stupid to say the least. I have seen how BA treats its top customers (i think they have a special cell which deals with royal families and what not) and it is equal to anything else in the world .

I would like to see the charges of this delay to be sent to the Qatari embasy and have them pay for the 3 hour delay , missed gated , missed conections etc etc .

Does’nt the Qatar Royal Family have the use of a B747 SP usually parked at Bournemouth?

Surely there was an element of religious & cultural sensitivity here that the BBC report fails to mention ? In most conservative Islamic countries a woman will only ever travel in close company with a man that they know or preferably with a male family member. BA would certainly have been aware of this.

Yes but those parasites think they’re above everybody else

I’d have been the opposite. “I’m sorry, but I simply refuse to sit next to some random Royal family member. I demand another seat, NOW!”

🙂

Perhaps they will take advantage of online check-in next time and choose which seats they would like to sit in.

What ‘right’ have they over any other passenger to demand who they do and do not sit next to…a classic case of snobbery in my opinion:mad:

If they choose to fly with a scheduled airline, then they have to accept that they are going to be sat with other passengers that they may not know…

Perhaps they should invest in their own private jet…Boeing BBJ or Airbus A319CJ or something!
