QF A380 pic…

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a photo I took earlier today.

For anyone that wants to know, I was stood outside a local Tesco supermarket about a mile away from LHR when this beast soared overhead…

Hope you like it, I have some more that I will post up if you want to see them;)

P.S This is the first photo I have attempted to manually edit, so any comments that could help me to improve would be most welcome.:)

Another thing I noticed…that 747 climb looks pretty steep!

This particular aircraft came up very low indeed, so I suspect it had a rather late rotation off the runway and therefore it was pointing at a higher angle than the other aircraft…also, I think it had just begun to turn, hence why you can see the winglet of the left-hand wing…but, anyways, in general you’ll be surprised by the angle that some of the aircraft pull when making their first turn!

Thanks for the comments, always nice to get some positive feedback!:)

Theres nothing wrong with Netto,Grey Area. Here in WAW there’s a REAL which is excellent for simmilar style shots as these,I may have to give it a try.We also have a Burger King in the same place and i’ve heard the whispers of people as i dash outside with a burger in 1 hand and the camera in the other, especially being a Brit. These are all nice shots but I do agree with the others about cropping however they are your pictures so you edit them how you want and not for anyone else.

Nice pics!

I was also going to say that they do seem to be a little too tightly cropped, was the first thing I noticed.

Nice shots. I think I’d be a bit too embarrassed to stand outside a Tesco shop and start taking pictures of planes!

It could be worse.

It could be Netto…..

Nice shots, by the way.

A smidgen more USM might not go amiss next time, though.

Why???

Well I must be honest and say I did get a few strange looks from passers-by going into the supermarket to do their shopping; it was not until an aircraft came overhead and I then lifted up my camera to take a picture that I think they knew what I was doing…

I did have one guy lean out of his car window and shout “Get a life!”…to which I just smiled!:D

Only editing critique i dare offer is maybe let them “breathe” a little by not cropping so tight

Exactly what I was going to say! The focus and subject of the image is indeed the aircraft, but almost cutting parts of that subject off by cropping so close does look a little ugly (to me eyes at least). Try leaving just a bit of a gap so the aircraft isn’t as ‘in your face’. Other than that, nice shots! 🙂

Excellent shots there indeed sir.

Thanks for the comment Tartan.

I accept your critique, however, I do think its down to personal preference, but of course your entitled to raise your opinion (it is a free world after all, or is it?…:D).

Thanks anyway.

Here’s some others!

Ok, so rather than creating another thread, I’d thought I would add some more photos onto this one.

Hope you like these too.

…what sort of focal length do you need for the heavies?

Well I used a Tamron 70-300mm lens on this particular shot.

The location is great, but it does really depend on what angle the aircraft turn after take-off as to whether you get a good shot or not.

Very nice! I’ve heard about this spot before but never tried it, what sort of focal length do you need for the heavies?
