The Australian gov. is planning the purchase of around 100 new planes to replace both f111 and f18. Now the most probable choice would be either Typhoon in which case around 100 would be acquired , or the f22 in which case around 50-60 would most probably be acquired.
So is that enough numerically wise?? I know the both plane are top quality , but especially with f22 the numbers are not that impressive.. but the f22 will probably be top fighter and by a margin.
So the general question from this is i guess .. can the quality of plane be used as a reason to reduce the quantity needed by significant number ..and is this the right line of thinking for nation to adopt.
