What is the best way to post pictures now? I’ve noticed that some posts have attachments as thumbnails and there is the paper-clip icon on the main forum list page to show they contain attachments (likely to be photos). Other posts have pictures ’embedded’ in them and don’t have the paperclip icon.
Is there a preferred method, and how do you ’embed’ the picture: simple cut ‘n’ paste?

P.S. can we attach short video clips? I got some low quality ones from East Kirkby and the BBMF (along with some large, decent quality one) I would like to share.

I myself use Photobucket to first upload and then post the HTML Tag (after resizing according of course !)
I believe the post is far more dramatic with a big picture (ie airshow pics) rather than an enlarged thumbnail, if if it does inconvenience dial-up users a little.
Just my 2c worth (Kiwi currency)

Doc
Whichever is the most convienient for you!
For my part it all depends what I am doing, if they are going on many forums then I host them on my webspace, if only this one then I upload them.
One thing to bear in mind is your bandwidth limits, you may exceed them if you host on webspace and cross post on many forums.
A rule of thumb is 700px wide and no more than 100kb (for the dial up users) however these arent hard and fast rules although I tend to keep to the 700px myself.
If you can host the vid clip on webspace it may be better to post a link to it. However it would be nice if you could tell us the file size.
The most important thing is post away, we can give you advice on the fly if you want.

The best way is to “upload” your pictures, makes it faster for dial-up users.
You’ll need to ensure your pictures are only about 70kbs, and I would recommend no larger than 800 pixels wide. You can compress and resize your pictures using almost any image editing tool – such as Paintshop Pro, or Photoshop (be sure to save the edited image under a new filename, so as not to damage the original) – and I think there is an image editor with the Windows “Plus!” pack.
Create your post in “Advanced Mode”, so that you have access to all the tools. All you need to do then is use the “Manage Attachments” button – you’ll find it below the “Submit” button, underneath the Post Icons. You can upload 10 images this way.
Alternatively, you can use the Insert Image button (a picture of a hill with a sun in the top right hand corner) to put the image full size into the post. You need to have the image hosted in some webspace somewhere and insert the URL into the pop-up box that appears when you press the button:
The best way to show video clips is to host the clip on some webspace, and use the “Insert Hyperlink” button (World with a chain link below).

And a couple of “uploaded” attachment images (click on them to see them full size).
