Hiya
When you fly from Palma to LGW do you come back into LGW over BARLU or over BEXIL?I am pretty goodat tracking things (when my scanner is behaving itself) but this one has me stumped!!
PS ——Was that you on the TCX 304L at 0440 ish this morning ?If it was, I heard you say a very good morning to London Control who sent you direct MID right overhead my house with TCX203L not far behind you———- you said to Gatwick Director 800 descending 700as you went overheadat 0455
Must go to garden LGW deps are going out overhead from 26Land lots are going over ——BYE!!

Woke up this morning with rasping throat and headache so Keffalonia is off and probably Dalaman and Heraklion too.
The return from Palma was much better than the return from Mahon but when they speed limited us to 230 knots at Goodwood I thought that might be an indication of a probable lap of the WILLO hold but it turned out to be a straight in.

Thanks Wys had tiny radio on 128.42 in case you sneaked in that way and scanner on 135.05 and heard you arrive over the french coast right to the tower!Think I saw you go round by Willo not to sure!ATC much better last night agreed!!
Couldnt believe how busy it was Fri nite the poor girl atcwas struggling to cope as it was.Hope you feel bettertoday.
My scanner is playing up with a horrid buzzing noise when ATC transmit -hubby is ging to take it to bits when he gets in from work and see if he can fixit-listening in on headphones it gives me a big headache!
Gotta go im late for work

It was mayhem last night. Half past ten and sooo many aircraft on one frequency. The controller only told us to hold at TIMBA after we’d gone past it! The older guy was Derek who took a couple of calls while I spoke to our operations department on the other radio to keep them informed of our delay. Anyway I’ve just come in from Palma and it was much more civilised on the frequencies tonight, don’t you think. I flew out so I was doing the radio, etc inbound back to LGW. Not feeling so good , so may be going sick tomorrow.

I did hear you last night but only for a couple of mins whilst you went round the hold–you sneaked in over Timba and I was listening to 135.32 which they did not bandbox as it was so busy!
I thought something was amiss and put the scanner on 126.82 pdq!Heard you go out but it was someone a lot older talking -listened to you talking to the french as well! Will listen today both ways and put both freqs in scanner!

Thanks Wys-I will try and listen definately will listen to your outbound Palma tonight .Are they taking offon 26L towards Seaford do you know ?No chance of seeing you go over today which is a bummer even if they are UNLESS WEATHER CHANGES!
By: wysiwyg - 29th August 2003 at 12:23
The Greek islands would generally go on a DVR SID unless the weather patterns meant a more southerly routing in which case it would be a SFD off 08R or late evening on 26L otherwise earlier in the day a BOGNA SID off 26L. DVR departures off 08R usually hand over to 120.52, then 134.9, then Maastricht on 132.205.

Wys
Thanks for replying to my query.I was woken up by a heavy plane going overhead about 20 mins prior to yours(it was either MON or BY )descending very low so sneaked out to have a look and made a cup of tea!Other half doesnt hear planes like I do!! we obviously get the BARLU/MAYFIELDS overhead at night and when on 08R we get the ones going to MID like you did. Sometimes we dont hear any but when the windows are open we do!The one I miss most is the BA2074 that used to go overhead into LGW at 0440 –it was the first plane I ever tracked and it was lovely to see the 747 when it went to Lagos on a Seaford dep!Sadly it went to LHR and I dont see it now –My best friend is CC for BA and shes off toLagos today!I will try and dive back in to hear her go!Where are you off to next?Ill try and listen!
PS what a lovely bike and a super colour -my boss Andy is a biker and is learning to fly(when he gets time off from running the taxi firm I work for on a Sunday!)The office is smothered by bike piccies on the walls!!
Must go parcels have arrived and I must go
Luv Charley B X PS iI have cordless headphones so I dont annoy anyone else listening to ATC!

We had been racing them most of the way across Europe
😮 😮 Shock!!!Racing …A bit naughty isn’t it….
If this is what our pilots do I will never get on a plane again!!!!:D 😉 😉 😉

Firstly the Balearic flights generally flight plan via BARLU for a WILLO 3C arrival into LGW. If there are major slot delays due to airways restrictions it is a very slim possibility that you could go to GURLU for a TIMBA 2B which routes via BEXIL.
Secondly, yes it was me in the 304L. What on earth were you doing awake at that time of morning!!! I was flying the return leg so it was my mate Chris doing the radio rather than me. We were coming back from Izmir while our mates Dave and Simon were in the 203L returning from Bodrum. We had been racing them most of the way across Europe but we beat them with a crafty short cut and level change between Zagreb and Venice.
