Okay, having switched over to slide film instead of print I have just got my first couple of films developed and viewing them through a slide viewer the results look pretty good, so I thought I’d scan them to get a bigger image, but the result was awful, colour was fine but the image was very fuzzy, so my question is can you have the slides scanned professionaly and transferred to a CD so they have the same resolution and quality as the slide itself?

Thanks for the info Kenneth, I’ll try fiddling around with the settings a bit more to see if the results improve.

What kind of scanner did you use and what do you want to use the scans for? It should be possible to get decent results on any reasonably new flatbed scanner. The pics in this thread are all scanned at a resolution of 1200dpi and 100% zoom factor on an Epson 1650 Perfection flatbed scanner with a slide/negative holder(except the two of the Draken formations). Did you use the “unsharpen mask” filter (USM) in a photo editing software on the afterwards? Try the following settings: intensity/strength 220%, Radius 2, Threshold 10 (play around a bit with these values until the result suits you). If you want to post them here, then resize the pic before applying USM. You won’t get any good results without the use of this filter.
