Hi there
This my first post to this forum ……
The old Hatfield Aerodrome, the home of De Havilland aircraft, used to have
a small museum , which was housed in a small `shed` which was said to be Geoffrey De Havillands first workshop. I remember looking inside it during on of the Open days in the 70`s , and there were many iteresting articles, including the tailplane and machine guns from the JU88 that attacked the factory during WW2 . I have tried to find out the location of the museum/exhibits as the site has now closed , but no one seems to know where this went to ?
Any Ideas ??

Yep been there too. I think they are the only 2 sites with anything. Philip Birtles did a great book on Hatfield, maybe he could do the same on Radlett?

I’ve been looking for info about Radlett post war to closure but there’s nowt about. My father gave me the negative for the plans he submitted to redevelope the airfield site but there are not any photo’s that i have come across other than in books of aircraft, which are not of the airfield and buildings.
There are a few here too….

Are the contents at the FAST museum ?
No, the contents are stored by BAE somewhere on site, and are not accessible.
I drive past the London Colney landing ground most weekends, and have some rather good shots said to have come from there. I will dig them out, and post them here!

That has solved that mystery then !
Are the contents at the FAST museum ? The reason I ask is that I would like to get some photos of the aforesaid JU 88 parts , as I am very interested in Hertfordshire aviation history , particuarly Hatfield, Radlett ,the first World War airfield at London Colney and the USAAF presence in Hertfordshire.

The building is still there – or at least it was until recently. The contents of the museum are kept under lock and key at Farnborough. As I understand it, the building and contents will move to Duxford when the re-development of the Superhanger is complete.
We had hoped to get it at the Mosquito Museum, but frankly being at Duxford will give it the wider audience it deserves.
