questions

Ive been wondering, what keep the windows in airliners from fogging up since its -50 F outside and 60 F inside the airliner. Also how is air replenished in airliner, since you have a large number of people in a small tube that need fresh air to breath. Is air from outside compressed and used?

Youtube is your friend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z03y04imhQg
This is the famous test were there was a bet that the missile will hit the left engine, to prove how accurate it is. The aircraft is Tu-16.

Yep, now that I’ve seen the vid, it’s quite obvious.

I have a little question concerning this sequence:
Is the target aircraft a TU-16, and the fired missile a Vikhr ?
(Is the aircraft flying or is it just attached ?)
Thanks in advance.

Difficult to say without the vid. Most certainly not a Tu, but a trainer of some sorts (L-39?). The missile leaves a corkscrew trajectory indeed, but it could be some kind of visual distortion. The gear might be lowered to simulate a low-speed target.

Yet one more for you lot to answer, may I add that anyone can post their Qustions here, I feel stupid having a thread devoted to any questions I require/desire the answers to:

As I said in the Rockhopper thread, I was reading the June 2004 edition of Airliner World and What happened to Air Emilia?

Judging by the article they closed (I think, I can’t find evidence to prove or contradict that they have ceased operations) because of poor loads, but any info on their operations and where they have dissapeared to will be much appreciated,

Cheers,

Wozza

EDIT:

Is it me or are you unable to create a poll (not that I want to, just a perculiar observation) or rate a thread?

A few more

Is this standard windscreen washing procedure: http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=968767 !?

What did Kuwait Airways chose for fleet replacement early this year, Airbus or Boeing

When Researching London City I discovered London City Airways who used DHC-7s any Info on them would be much appreciated

Finally, say you were to set up a biz airline in Europe would you use the ERJ 135/145 or Saab 340/2000?

Matter of Opinion

Thanks in advance,

Wozza

Can the DHC-8 be configured in a cargo layout?

Not as far as I know, but I’m sure it won’t take long for someone to catch on? ATR’s already are, so why not the Dash’s!

Strange how many Chanex aircraft are utilised for Royal Mail flights however still no Royal Mail movements from LBA.
Looking at how many banks have offices in Leeds and New York then surely it would make sense for there to be an LBA NYC link. If the likes of Bristol and Newcastle can then why not LBA or is that just wishful thinking?

Just wishful thinking :diablo:

Got a few more Q’s for you aviation bods regarding mainly SkyNet Airlines
I’ve searched the forum and there is no mentioning of them anywhere, just incase you’ve forgotten they are the airline that operated to B734s between Shannon and Moscow via Dublin or Amsterdam.

What were loads like?

What sort of price were tickets

With Air Nova launching Aurora in Russia (the new LCC – russia’s first) is it viable for low cost links between Europe and Russia (Mainly Moscow)?

There have been plans to resurect Skynet from shannon but to operate long-haul services – any news on this?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Wozza

Look at double glazing.

That doesn’t fog up, except for extreme conditions.
Thats how the aircraft windows work.

They are doubleglaze for several reasons.

1. Doubleglazed windows dampen sound.
2. Less likely to fog up
3. Strength

And doesn’t the skin on the outside of the aircraft heat up anyway, due to the friction? Or is that only when you go as fast as Concorde would have done?

Only the flightdeck windows are heated (and then only 4 out of the 6 on the 757). The lack of condensation is due to amount of layes of glazing.

I thought there were monkeys on ropes attached to wings cleaning the outside during flight!

Learn something new everyday!

Seriously thru, if you look when you are very high (where it obv. is very very cold) you can see the inward side of the outside pane of glass starting to get condensation on it but not that much but due to the heat from the aircraft there is never much on it as the heat radiates through the “double glazing” and stops it getting really misted up. Some small patches form as it is extremly cold outside and the around 23 degrees centigrade of the interior isnt warm enough to stop it completly.
