Hi all.
Haven’t been paying much attention to the aviation world the past few months. :S
I heard BA ordered some A380’s? When did this happen and how many firm orders have they placed?
Also heard that the first A380 is to be delivered to SQ this week?
Thanks in advance. 🙂

1 delivered & active
4 outfitting
1 refitting (ex-test)
12 built, not yet flying
4 with lower serial numbers than aircraft listed as built, but listed as status “unknown”

I highly doubt that frame will ever have been started 🙂
I can confirm that long lead item production has started for the freighter prototype (MSN037). For the PAX a/c the production of MSN040+ parts is already underway… 😉

First metal cut did occur on MSN037, and some long-lead items are possibly produced. These will either go into scrapyard, will be put in storage or integrated into normal series aircraft. I guess the parts specially designed for the freighter will first go into storage as Airbus will continue with the freighter program once it has figured out how to do it.

There is the MSN037 of Fedex. How far did this frame get before cancellation?
They are talking of producing what… 10 next year? with 6 already made, thats 16 to deliver.
I figure that at around MSN020 – still some wayz short of 37.
I highly doubt that frame will ever have been started 🙂

The list of airframe numbers can be found posted at Wikipedia. Usual reservations about Wikipedia reliability apply of course:

Does any one know how many A380F frames were started on the production line when the plug was pulled.
None I’d reckon.
I think priority No. 1 was getting the PAX versions out the door ASAP – the 380F was always going to be the poor relation of the launch pair, so would have been behind it in the delivery pecking order.

Does any one know how many A380F frames were started on the production line when the plug was pulled. What is going to happen to them? Are they to be completed as Pax aircraft, used for structural testing, demolished for parts or what. I assume if they were in the very early stages of construction they would be finished as passenger aircraft. What c/ns were to be freighters?
Does any one have an up to date c/n allocation and sequence for the production line. I understand that not all aircraft will be built in numerical order.
Thanks in anticipation.
Be lucky

Also, I am pretty sure the A380’s first revenue flight is tomorrow (Thursday) with Singapore Airlines flying it from Singapore to Sydney.
Actually, no.
A380 was delivered (given to SQ people in Toulouse) two days ago, this Monday, 15th of October, departed Toulouse yesterday, this Tuesday 16th October, and arrived in SIN today, Wednesday 17th October. The first revenue flight would be next week, Thursday, 25th of October, SIN-SYD.

British Airways has ordered 12 Airbus A380s and 24 Boeing 787s. There is a thread about on the forum somewhere.
