Anyone agree?!

It’s certainly the most striking scheme I’ve ever seen on this type. I’m a huge fan of the MD-11 in terms of looks anyway, but that scheme just does it for me!

I guess they were wrong when they said “you can’t polish a turd”.

200 built, 5 confirmed write offs, one unconfirmed write off, 194 aircraft in service or presently undergoing Passenger -> Freighter conversions.

The five hull losses would presuambly be the five detailed below, but not sure what your figure of four in store:confused: means?

Confirmed 200 built and more technical details available:
I can only think of 5 write offs so there must be 4 still in storage somewhere.:)

I do like the MD-11, in fact I liked the DC10s prior to it, and Tristars, 727s, TU 154s and Tridents. In fact Tri-Jets are cool, shame they are disapearing. Not too keen on the colour livery on this MD.
My fav plane of all time however is the Super VC-10 :).

Fedex “only” operate 58 of the estimated 191 MD11s still active worldwide. 😎
Don’t the RAF operate a similar proportion of the remaining Tristars ? Their paint scheme is nowhere near as cool though :diablo:

I know it sometimes seems that way, Steve, but Fedex “only” operate 58 of the estimated 191 MD11s still active worldwide. 😎

One of the few that Fedex haven’t managed to procure

The MD-11 is now HZ-AFAS, ex HZ-AFA1 of the Saudi Royal Flight and is owned by ASASCO Aviation.

I’m not really a fan of the cream leather and gold taps look.

In a bathroom I couldn’t agree more. On a plane I have to disagree!

Interesting comment with that picture she has been in maintance for 17 months wonder what she has been getting done?
I guess the rival scheme for ‘best of’ would be the MartinAir Cargo planes and the Fedex scheme is no slouch in the attractive stakes.
The Saudi’s plane went initially to Hamburg for maintenance and then to Zurich for engine maintenance. Finally it returned to Hamburg for a VIP interior to be installed and a paint job.

I agree the MD11 is a pretty aircraft but the colours are a bit too middle eastern for me. I’m not really a fan of the cream leather and gold taps look.

I actually saw that response coming. You’re so predictable! 😀

Bah… It’s bigger than a bizjet, that’s the only reason you don’t like it!
