Agree,
they all look good and love the old film prints too …
If I may ask ,,
what do you fly those days Bud?Cheers !!
The Pilatus PC-6 and the Stolpe Starduster Too get airborne quite often. The Spit and the FW-190 and the Rumpler got sold. The Hurricane ended up in a museum.
On the building table are a Robin ATL, a new Mossie, a Corsair, a Minimoa soarer… The Dakota needs some repair after a screwed-up take-off.

Hopefully this’ll work. This is the Madiator, so called because it looks nothing like a Gladiator! Flies beautifully.

Tell me about it!
I once built a two-seater Spitfire model (LONG before Richard Rawle, anyway!!) and ended up planting it in a field one afternoon. After salvaging the bits (including the undamaged engine and R/C gear) I took it home and sat it down on the table…. not realising that the fuel residue on the wings was dripping off and stripping the varnish on the living room table!!
Take what I got….!

have a radio control piper cub with a 9ft span in my mates loft (if he hasn’t gotten rid of it), it hasn’t flown for about 12 years due to its u/c being somewhat weakened by my err “arrivals” (how i landed her can in no way be described as a landing :0 ) the take off and flying bit i could do well but the other bit!!! i have got to say though, i never actually broke anything, just weakened it. (i have landed a (real) chipmunk and cessna with no problem, or bouncing/porpoising/groundloops) did once manage a three pointer with the cub though, if both mainwheels and the prop boss count that is 😀 .
the rest ended up in binbags

R/C Comet, Calcutta, Vulcan & B52
Had a great weekend at the Yorkshire Air Spectacular – Rufforth airfield. There were some superb models including a B52 and Comet – I really must get back into model flying as it is the closest I’ll ever get to flying a warbird! Attached are some photos that I took (in practice for the full size airshow this coming weekend at Elvington). They are of a superb Comet, Short Calcutta, Vulcan, B52 and a shot to give an idea of the B52 (also in the shot is a model Beech Expeditor that sadly had an accident and came out of the nearby hayfield in pieces)

A guy has a spit with retracts in my club, they seem to work well but saying that we have a smooth tarmarc runway.
By: Der - 23rd January 2004 at 21:49
Havent bothered with them yet. Our field is a bit on the rough side, and retracts just don’t seem to work on it. My mate flew his Tempest about the same time as these shots, with retracts. Only one of them would completely go up, and despite lots of workshop hours, the status quo remains. So, I havent bothered. When I see a set of retracts doing what it says on the box at our field, I might invest, but for the time being, I’ll just wait and see.
Glad you liked the photos. I havent got any of the biplane yet. It’s still tucked up safe in my garage, waiting for better weather…..

Nice Repair!
By: Der - 23rd January 2004 at 21:26
O.K.
See if this works.
This is the trio about half an hour before the Spit piled in vertically from about 100 feet up.
The photo before this was after the repairs.
