Wonderful news. As an aside I took my grandchildren to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum last Thursday and there displayed was another R.J.Mitchell artefact, his shotgun no less. Now if that went walkies the Police would take an interest.

We’ll probably never know…..the important thing is that the irreplaceable has been returned!
And ‘thanks’ to whoever bothered to return it.

….or it was offered by one bloke to another bloke in the pub, who realising what it was paid a tenner for it and returned it?

Excellent outcome really and just the sort of ‘happy ending’ I had hoped for in the original theft thread…
…not excusing the theft in any way but at least the thief (presumably) did the right thing afterwards!

No, the thieving get that took it in the first place Mike.

Just be pleased and grateful it has been safely returned…..!! I am happy for the museum.
TA. If you are looking for RJM’s DNA, I rather think you will be disappointed.

I guess the Police are to busy these days chasing dead and alive ex DJ’s and MPs.
bloody great news it was returned, its the one and only and cannot be rebuilt from a data plate either !

I think that very unlikely, a friend of mine had his whole house turned over, fire places ripped out, and vehicles stolen (one of which was on a trickle charger, still plugged in!) and the local police didn’t even want to come out to have a look….still a good thing that it was returned though.

Brilliant news for a change, I guess the person who took it did not realise its significance and then how hard it would be to move on.
I take it the item was swabbed for a DNA match on the database?

Great news – good news stories have become such a rarity!
