Under the American system CPL’s are given away on the back of cornflake packets and the medical requirements are much less stringent. Consequently you’ll find that there is a considerably higher ratio of CPL holders to PPL holders in the US than in the UK. It’s fairly common in the US to do a CPL without planning to ever use it for work so there are also consquently an exceedingly high proportion of commercial license holders not working within their capacity.

aj: I never found out the answer to either of these. I’m not sure exactly what was up with his eye. He looked absolutely normal when I met him and he was riding a motor bike at the time too.
As for the money, I’ve never felt it polite to ask. Are we jealous? Sure! Can we do anything about it? No. So let’s not worry about it and just wish him well.

just writing to give you a progress report, all is going well, I have passed my IR, working on my CPL, taking it next week.After that my multi CPL.
Had my first engine failure at NIGHT! Just made it to an airport, if I had not decided to climb up higher on the way back from Cedar key on the west coast, I would not of made the glide, and I do not think I would be writing to you now. Happened in a PA28 warrior.
