Well I was having a look around today and it looks like the RC-135 Rivet Joint earmarked for the UK will be called the Sentry R2.
Whilst I had my reservations in the begining I am looking more favourably on the deal now.
We get to own them rather then a stupid PFI deal.
They will be restored airframes so they will have plenty of life in them.
They will be able to share with both the huge US logistics chain and our own E3D logistics.
As we will own them there will be opportunities in the future to add Project Helix features in a far more roomy airframe.
It will allow us to remove a legacy type from the fleet.
I do wonder if they will get a probe as well as the recepticle.
Of course at this rate we will operate three types fitted with Recepticles making the decision not to take some of our a330 mrtt with booms even more crazy!
