A great film back to the 1980s looking at RAAF operations at RAAF base Butterworth, Malaysia.
The film shows F-111s, Mirages, C-130 Hercules flying and on the ground. A rare insight to a foreign deployment by the RAAF not always seen by the public.

There are still debates ongoing in Australia if a private warbird civil Mirage III-O will ever fly but it is hoped one day it may happen…if all the processes and enthusiasm can be brought together to make such a complex project be realised.

I went to Butterworth in 1997 for Exercise Flying Fish. 3 weeks with a u/s aircraft was such a great swansong to end that particular posting. Butterworth and Penang were great places to be!
