RAAF fairbairn open day in the 1960's

I thought I’d share this image of the good old days in australia during an Open Day. Taken in the early 1960’s.

Cheers

My First Air Show

Good heavens!! I remember that airshow, particularly the flying routine put on by the Vulcan. Most impressive avtur to noise conversion ratio. The first air show I attended as a very, very young, wide eyed and aircraft mad lad. Remember the Sabre team doing their thing, and a Mirage doing a so very, very close to the big sonic boom low and fast pass from left to right across the crowd line.

We have a family friend (ex-RAAF WW2) who took heaps of photos, Agfa slides more correctly, of that show and a couple of others in the 1960s and 1970s. And he still has them tucked away!

Lots of memories there.

Fairbairn certainly looks different then, to as I knew it in the 1970s and 80s to how it is now.
