The RAAF Museum’s Pageant is coming up fast.
For those in reach of Point Cook, Victoria or Melbourne, it’s a great venue and a great selection of aircraft. The last two Pageants have had a quality array of vintage and warbird aircraft and a selection of more modern hardware.

Also the annual ADF Airshow will be at Williamtown this year. Those who got to Townsville last year were really treated to a full-on display. No dates yet, but the usual September-October timeframe again.

Lets hope the Museum opens up some of the stored gems that never see the day of light! One thing that really bugs me about the RAAF Museum is great planes but many rusting away in the salty environment and many that people will never see because of lack of space, almost puts me going off going there!

Sounds like a great event with some very special aircraft, unfortunately it looks like I will be working that day so hopefully someone will post some pictures of the day.

That’s careless! 😎
so hopefully someone will post some pictures of the day.
There’ll certainly be reports in certain aviation magazines. 😉
And I’m sure there’ll be a photo report or two on Warbirdz.

Gooday All
Well for you people “South of the Border” that should break the drought you have been having and fill Melbourne’s dams.
cheers
By: mark_pilkington - 31st March 2025 at 12:24
hello Ross,
The ground is that dry down here in Victoria that its cracked wide open and any rain runs into the ground, not over it and into the run-offs to feed the Dams.
Obviously ground water acquifiers are being replenished but it will take a lot more (years) of these types of rains to make a dent in our dams and reservoirs, Victoria has been in Drought for over 10 years, Geelong where I am has been on level 3 water restrictions for all of that time.

Gooday Mark
About a year ago our main water supply for Brisbane got down to 18% and we were limited to 140 litres per person per day.
Actual usage got below that, then it started to rain again, I think the supply is now back to over 70% and we have had a lot of rain in the past few weeks. Forecast is for it to rain heavily for the next few days, so it likely will go up a few percent on that. We are talking seriously big dam here, the government build a reverse osmosis plants to recycle the sewerage and desalination plants (reverse osmosis again) to get fresh water from the see. big pipelines about 100 kilometers in length etc.
A major airshow or flying that everyone is looking forward to always seems to attract rain, so here is hoping….. well not on the day, just around it.
I want to do some fabric work, but the high humidity slows me down.
cheers

Hi Matt,
That’d be cool. As you are local, if you can swing by on the Saturday, I’ll be volunteering in the afternoon at the Strike Hangar, and I suspect (duties permitting) it’ll be easier to chat then than Sunday.
Alternatively, I’m happy to propose a forum meet at the Boxkite replica project (it’s intended to be in the front of the Restoration Hangar) at, say, 11.30 on the show day?
I can’t guarantee to be anywhere at any time on the Sunday as I’ll be working, but the Boxkite’s going to be one of the things you don’t normally get to see, so worth a gander, and a lot more interesting than me!
Regards,

I’ll be there in a big way, considering I live in Point Cook. James, can we at some stage meet up during the day?

*Bump*
For those able to make it, the meet at 11.30 at the Boxkite Project, which I understand will be in the Restoration Hangar on the day, is ON.
See you there!

Great stuff, everyone!
Ron Gretton will be at the Boxkite, and maybe Geoff Matthews Snr, to present the project, so there’ll be interesting stuff to see and discuss when you get there. If you ask them for James they’ll point me out if I’m not immediately obvious! I’ll check that the Boxkite will be where I expect it to be on Saturday, and if there’s any change of plan I’ll post here Saturday night.
Background details here: www.boxkite2014.org
There’ll be a (much delayed) update after the show.

I have found somebody to do my shift on Sunday so will also see you at the Boxkite.
Cheers Paul
