There was a b/w photo in either Air Classics or Warbirds Intl. many years ago of Lee Fairbrother’s Mk. 24 N7929A in a white paint job with red or blue trim on it. It crashed at Mahwah, NJ around 1953 due to (I believe) a faulty oxygen system. Didn’t all the Cogea Spits have one form of civilian c/s when in use? I seem to remember from Air Enthusiast that James Storey’s Mk. XI LV-NMZ had civilian colors. Don’t have the mag so not sure! There has been some talk about Schreiner’s Spits (in Holland??) so what about them? Mark12, front and center if you please…. 🙂
Also Mark, what was Mavis Bramson’s Spit used for. It was not a racer?
