I don’t recall anything about a change of ownership in the past couple of years since PL965 moved away Stateside – just a change of registration.

Ant – I think the windscreen was changed to give a bit of protection against birdstrikes. Reading the book “Spitfire in Blue” a couple of years back, the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society fitted the internal armoured screen for that reason. (At least I think it was the MAPS!) I imagine PL983 was fitted for the same reason, too.

I think my 1/10th Me109 is due for a repaint once this one is finished!

Did I read somewhere that the Buchon is fitted with a smoke system?? 😀

Hmmmmm well I was only stating what has been written in the press a few months back.If she is still UK-owned then that makes me a very happy bunny-perhaps she’ll return before too long afterall?? 🙂

The FAA register shows no change.
I believe the UK owner(s) have property at the ‘Air Ranch’ in Florida – taxi up to your door step etc.
If I was going to winter in Florida I’d take my Spitfire along – no home should be without one!

Ant,
Are you sure it has been sold to an American? Harry Stenger’s shop at Bartow is the logical ‘home’ for Spitfire work in the Florida area. Giving it an N number does not mean it is sold. Perhaps a check on the register will confirm.

The pink Spit has been sold off to an American owner in Bartow,Florida. She’s been given a US N-reg so it looks like she won’t be back, well, not for a while anyway.Would love to see this one come home and be returned to it’s PRBlue scheme with one-piece windscreen etc.Yet another one for the ‘when I win the Lottery…’ shopping list.

Nope, don’t think so. Last i heard it was on permanent loan or something. Damn shame. It was nice seeing the XI amongst the other spits, very distinguishable.
Oh well, one of many lost ‘Stateside’ (no offence to any US nationals)

What’s all this about flight testing in the USA, because of problems in the UK….pressume the CAA….????

But nice to see one of the lesser known, but one of the true greats of the Jagdflieger being remembered.

Co-incidentley, it’s one of the scheme’s I would have picked if I had the enviable choice……….I had to make do with it at 1:72 scale instead…….:D

Doh….!!
The photo would’nt attach… !!!
